Breakfast Session on ‘Tax Technology and the U.S. Policy’ with Tax Experts from EY – 10th October 2017

AMCHAM, in partnership with EY India, organized a breakfast session on ‘Tax Technology and the U.S. Policy’ on Tuesday, 10th October 2017 in Mumbai. Ms. Surabhi Wahal, Regional Director – Western Region, AMCHAM, began the event with her opening remarks. This was followed by Mr. Sudhir Kapadia, National Tax Leader, EY India, who through his address welcomed the participants, introduced the esteemed line of speakers, and set the stage for this important topic.

Through a discussion and a presentation, Ms. Kate Barton, Vice Chair – Tax, EY America, analyzed and shared her expert insights on tax risks and U.S. policy reforms. She touched upon the global focus intensifying on company taxes, a review of the Trump administration and Republican priorities for 2017, the latest updates on U.S. tax reforms and the budget resolution FY-18. The keynote speaker of the morning was the dynamic Mr. V. S. Parthasarathy, Group CFO, Group CIO, Chairman Mahindra eMarket Ltd., Member of the Group Executive Board, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., who delivered an impactful presentation on ‘Technology Transformation in Finance’ with analogies comparing good leadership to the characteristics of Lord Krishna.

The key note address was followed by a panel discussion moderated by Mr. Rahul Patni, Partner, Tax Technology & Transformation, EY India and was focused on intelligent automation in finance. The panel included experts from EY – Ms. Sharda Cherwoo, Americas Tax Leader for Intelligent Automation, EY America; Mr. Milan Sheth, National Director and Partner, Technology Global Leader, Robotics and AI, EY India; Mr. Martin J. Fiore, Americas Tax Talent Leader and Mr. Rahul Patni. The panel delved into demystifying digital finance and digital tax, understanding the value of robotics at work and the future of tax and finance functions.

An engaging Q&A session followed the panel discussion. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Nishu Gupta, Finance Controller, Johnson and Johnson Medical India. The event was hosted by EY India.
