AMCHAM supported the Bengal Global Business Summit 2018 – 15th January 2018

AMCHAM India, and its Eastern Region, supported the Government of West Bengal to attract U.S. investors to do business in the state. As a prelude to the event, on January 15th, the Honorable Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee hosted a dinner for delegates, chambers of commerce, industry, diplomats and government at the Eco Park. This gave the guests the opportunity for networking and to have informal discussions. At the dinner, delegates, members of chambers, including AMCHAM members, got the opportunity to meet with the Chief Minister, Finance Minister, Additional Chief Secretaries and senior government officials.

The summit was held on 16th -17th January in Kolkata. At the inaugural session, at the brand new Convention Center at Rajarhat, Mr. Mukash Ambani, praised the leadership of the Honorable Chief Minister and said that West Bengal was now ‘Best Bengal’ and was one of the states that ease of doing business was a reality and considered West Bengal to be among the best. He committed Rs. 5,000 crore in non Jio investment over the next three years. Amongst the various investment announcements, some of which were from the JSW Group, RP Sanjiv Group, Adventz, amongst others. The Chief Minister, in her concluding remarks at the close of the event, citied that preliminary estimate of investment proposals were Rs. 2.19,925 crore that would create around 20 lakh jobs.
