Northern Region Executive Committee Meeting

AMCHAM’s Northern Region Executive Committee held a meeting on October 9th under the leadership of Mr. Ashish Saraf, Chairman – Northern Region, AMCHAM and Vice President & Country Head, Pratt & Whitney. Members discussed opportunities to strengthen industry advocacy, improve ease of doing business, and enhance engagement with central and state governments. Key concerns included regulatory complexities, customs and Quality Control Order (QCO) requirements, delays in product approvals, SEZ-related export issues, and challenges affecting fresh U.S. investments, particularly in manufacturing. Members emphasized the need to prioritize a few common industry issues rather than pursue a broad agenda. The committee also discussed strengthening relationships with government authorities in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, including local GST Commissioners, and showcasing the contribution of U.S. companies through investments, employment generation, skilling, and CSR initiatives. Greater engagement with the U.S. Embassy, Parliamentary Standing Committees and the India–U.S. Friendship Group was encouraged. As a way forward, three priority areas were identified: ease of doing business, engagement with local government authorities, and CSR outreach. It was agreed that AMCHAM would prepare a one-page concept note on each area, incorporating written inputs from members, for the committee’s review and further refinement. Thereafter, specific initiatives, responsibilities, and stakeholder meetings would be identified to pursue practical outcomes. Members also welcomed the proposed interaction with the India–U.S. Friendship Group on October 21st and agreed that future committee meetings could be convened as required to advance identified priorities. Mr. Dhritiman Biswas, Director – Government Relations, South Asia, Cargill India, Mr. Naveen Aggarwal, Office Managing Partner – Delhi NCR; U.S.–India Corridor Leader, KPMG in India, Mr. Saurabh Singh, VP & Country Leader Govt Affairs, Optum Global Solutions, Mr. Ajay Bagga, Managing Director India & Country Head – South Asia, Zimmer India, and Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director, AMCHAM, participated.
