Interaction with U.S. House of Representatives Congressional Delegation

On September 27th, AMCHAM hosted a closed-door interaction with a U.S. House of Representatives Congressional delegation led by Chairman Brian Mast (R-FL) of the House Foreign Affairs Committee with Representative Haley Stevens (D-MI), Representative Shri Thanedar (D-MI), Representative Jimmy Patronis (R-FL) and Representative James Gallagher (R-CA) with U.S. semiconductor companies operating in India (AMD, Analog Devices, IBM, Intel and Qualcomm). Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM, welcomed participants. The discussion centered on deepening the U.S.-India strategic and economic partnership. While the U.S. is home to the mature semiconductor and AI technology stack, India holds market scale and manufacturing and design capacity, hence the discussion focused on translating this complementarity into action and two-way investment.

The meeting was attended by the following U.S. government participants: Mr. Michael Weglein, Policy Director, U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Karthik Raja, Subcommittee on South and Central Asia Staff Director, U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. Erik Ashida, Staff (Minority), U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee, Mr. David Jea, Counselor for Economic Affairs, U.S. Embassy, Ms. Allison Stepinac, Cyber and Digital Policy Officer, U.S. Embassy, and Ms. Syeda Borchmeyer, Digital Attaché, U.S. Embassy.
