Tax, Tariff & Regulatory Affairs Committee Meeting with Economic Section, U.S. Embassy
The leadership of AMCHAM’s Tax, Tariff & Regulatory Affairs Committee discussed critical issues faced by American companies operating in India with American Economic Officers on July 23rd. The committee and the diplomats discussed retroactive taxation, digital taxation, tax disparities for foreign banks and foreign companies, GST, rate rationalization for aerated and carbonated beverages, online money gaming – especially relief in respect of legacy GST demands – as well as e-commerce taxation. Based on these discussions, AMCHAM prepared a comprehensive note on these issues for the U.S. Embassy in India. Mr. David S.
