Members from AMCHAM’s ICT, Medical Technology & Pharmaceuticals Committees held a constructive engagement with Mr. Darpan Jain, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, on July 28th, reflecting the shared commitment of industry and government on advancing a future-ready, innovation-driven policy framework for India’s technology and healthcare ecosystem. Representatives from technology companies offered industry perspectives on matters pertinent to trade facilitation, regulatory harmonization, and the broader enabling environment for emerging and frontier technologies. Cyber security, import licensing authorization, export controls and SCOMET challenges were raised. Parallel discussions with representatives from the healthcare sector touched upon considerations relating to market access, regulatory processes, harmonization of standards, global competitiveness, and the broader ease of doing business for the medical devices industry.

The dialogue underscored the continued value of sustained engagement between government and industry in shaping a policy environment conducive to innovation, resilient supply chains, and India’s aspirations as a trusted global partner in technology, manufacturing, and healthcare. AMCHAM India expressed its appreciation for the time and thoughtful engagement extended and reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to working collaboratively with the Government of India in furtherance of the broader U.S.-India commercial partnership. Representatives from 17 member companies participated.
