Meeting with Dr. Subrata Gupta, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal

AMCHAM’s Eastern Region met with Dr. Subrata Gupta, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of West Bengal, on July 22nd at the State Secretariat (Nabanna), Kolkata, to discuss strengthening the state’s business and investment ecosystem. The discussions focused on emerging investment opportunities in AI, smart manufacturing, global capability centers (GCCs), cloud computing, and other advanced technologies, as well as the state’s forthcoming Industrial & Incentive Policy, AI Policy, Semiconductor Policy, and IT and electronics reforms.

Dr. Gupta emphasized that future investments should generate employment and support inclusive economic growth. He noted that GCCs align well with the state’s vision of creating high-quality jobs and increasing income levels. He also highlighted the importance of closer government-industry collaboration and assured AMCHAM of the state government’s support in facilitating investments, including land availability and infrastructure development. AMCHAM reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with the Government of West Bengal through policy advocacy, industry expertise, and engagement with U.S. companies to promote investment and economic growth. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both sides expressing confidence that sustained collaboration would help position West Bengal as a competitive and innovation-driven investment destination.
