Agriculture & Food Processing Committee Meeting with Dr. Sheshakumar Goroshi, Scientist-E and Head, Agromet Advisory Services Division, India Meteorological Department, Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India
AMCHAM’s Agriculture & Food Processing Committee convened virtually on June 11th under the leadership of Mr. Subroto Geed, Chairman – Agriculture & Food Processing Committee, AMCHAM and President – South Asia, Corteva Agriscience. Ms. Rashi Verma, Director, AMCHAM, welcomed participants and provided an overview of AMCHAM’s achievements during 2025-26, along with key initiatives and priorities planned for 2026-27. In his opening remarks, Mr. Geed expressed confidence in the committee’s continued engagement and active participation. He highlighted the importance of leveraging the committee as a platform for collaboration, knowledge sharing, and constructive policy dialogue. He also extended a special welcome to the guest speaker, Dr. Sheshakumar Goroshi, Scientist-E and Head, Agromet Advisory Services Division, India Meteorological Department (IMD), Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, noting that his participation was particularly timely given the increasing significance of weather intelligence, climate resilience, and agricultural preparedness amid evolving global and domestic challenges.
Dr. Goroshi delivered a presentation on ‘Building Climate Resilience in Indian Agriculture through Weather and Climate Services,’ highlighting the critical role of weather forecasting, agrometeorological advisory services, and climate information systems in supporting farmers, enhancing productivity, and strengthening resilience across the agricultural sector. The presentation was followed by an engaging discussion during which members shared perspectives on industry priorities and discussed potential engagement opportunities with state-level government officials, policymakers, and other stakeholders across the agricultural ecosystem. Members also exchanged views on strengthening collaboration between industry and government to advance innovation, sustainability, and climate-smart agricultural practices. Representatives from ADM, Amway, Bunge, Cargill, Coca-Cola, Corteva Agriscience, Digital Green, FMC, General Mills, Herbalife, IFF, John Deere, Kellanova, PepsiCo, PMI, Mondelez, Mosaic, and the World Food Programme (WFP) participated in the meeting.
