Meeting with Mr. Suvendu Pati, Chief General Manager, Fintech Department, Reserve Bank of India
Members of AMCHAM’s new BFSI Committee met virtually on April 15th with Mr. Suvendu Pati, Chief General Manager, Fintech Department, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Mr. Ankur Singh, Assistant General Manager, Fintech Department, RBI and Mr. Muralidhar Manchala, Deputy General Manager, Fintech Department, RBI. The discussion was centered around the RBI’s Digital Payments Awareness Week, with key focus areas including artificial intelligence in financial services, cyber security and emerging threats, MuleHunter AI and fraud detection, as well as KYC, AML, and compliance challenges, alongside the evolving landscape of agentic AI and future technologies. The meeting underscored the RBI’s overarching approach of ‘innovation with responsibility,’ with continued emphasis on building trust, strengthening customer protection, and enabling responsible AI adoption. A key strategic message highlighted was that solutions developed for India have the potential to scale globally. The importance of strong industry–regulator collaboration was reiterated as critical to addressing emerging risks such as agentic AI, deepfakes, and cyber threats. Representatives from Amazon Pay, Dell Technologies, Citibank, Google Pay, HPE, Mastercard, Meta, PayPal, and Visa, participated in the meeting.
