AMCHAM members met Ms. Nidhi Kesarwani, Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade of India (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and Mr. Mohammad Isharar Ali, Director, DPIIT, on April 7^th in New Delhi. Members discussed the impact of the geopolitical scenario on business in India and possible remedial measures. Issues included supply chain disruptions impacting production and contractual obligations, waiving off delayed delivery clause/penalty in government contracts, relaxation of basic customs duty on critical and imported components, increasing the scope of critical sectors list, temporary suspension of import duties on essential commodities, impact on logistics, creation of live logistics portal for status of availability to support industry, giving packaging sector a priority status and cohesion of state notifications with central announcements, amongst other topics. Ms. Kesarwani provided an update on the ongoing governmental interventions and assured full support to industry
