Interactive Session with the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata on the Overseas Security Advisory Council

AMCHAM’s Eastern Region organized an interactive session virtually on February 26th with the U.S. Consulate General Kolkata on the Overseas Security Advisory Council (OSAC), bringing together member companies to discuss structured security cooperation and risk preparedness. The session was led by Mr. Matthew J. Godwin, Special Agent and Regional Security Officer, U.S. Consulate General Kolkata, who provided a comprehensive overview of OSAC as a public–private partnership established to facilitate timely security information sharing and crisis coordination between the U.S. government and organizations with U.S. ties. He outlined OSAC’s global network of over 150 country chapters and explained how local chapters, including the Kolkata Chapter, serve as platforms for collaboration, information exchange, and operational risk awareness.

The interaction was well received, with members expressing interest in engaging more closely with the OSAC Kolkata Country Chapter to strengthen preparedness frameworks and enhance situational awareness. The session reaffirmed the importance of structured public–private cooperation in addressing evolving security challenges and supporting resilient business operations.
