AMCHAM’s Hyderabad Chapter, in association with EY, had a session on labour codes at the EY office on December 2nd in Hyderabad. The breakfast meeting showcased EY experts that spoke in detail on key impact areas including employee vs. work categorization, compensation and benefits, flexi hiring, simplification of compliance, etc.  The session explored the definition of wages and their exclusion and HR/payroll policies and processes, among other topics. Participants raised questions that were answered by the EY experts Mr. Adithya Modani, Partner, EY India and Ms. Ammu Sadanandhan, Director, EY India. The session also touched upon classification of employees, employee salary structure and benefits. Robust internal controls, periodic diagnostic review and governance were highlighted as key to compliance framework. The need to align on obligations for employers towards employee health safety and service conditions was also discussed.
