Pre-Budget Meeting for Union Budget 2026-27 with Ministry of Finance, Government of India
A meeting was held on November 7th with the Ministry of Finance held under the Chairpersonship of Chairman CBDT, Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance, Government of India to discuss suggestions/recommendations in respect to tax issues pertaining to different sectors made by AMCHAM. Mr Abhishek Jain, Chairman – Taxation, Tariff and Regulatory Affairs Committee, AMCHAM and National Head & Partner, Indirect Taxes, KPMG, Mr. Rohinton Sidhwa, Co-Chairman – Taxation, Tariff and Regulatory Affairs Committee, AMCHAM and Partner & National Corporate & Income Tax Leader, Deloitte Tohmatsu India and Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director, AMCHAM shared the perspective of U.S. industry. The discussion included suggestions made to the government on issues connected with significant economic presence (SEP), OECD pillar 2 solutions, repetitive appeals on the identical issues, binding timelines on appeals and litigation, streamlining withholding tax (WHT) rates for goods and services to simplify the current complex structure, simplifying reporting compliances for TDS, timely finalization of SVB investigations to reduce compliance burden, centralized database for Customs Trade Notices, introduction of dispute resolution scheme under customs, as well as various issues concerning customs.
