AMCHAM’s Electronic Manufacturing Committee convened a virtual meeting on September 24th. The committee discussed crucial industry topics such as the National Electronic Policy consultation, NITI Aayog’s GVC report, and proposed amendments in IT hardware and telecom. Key issues addressed included the Phased Manufacturing Plan, concerns over PPO IT hardware, and urgent matters related to the Import Management System (IMS). The committee also highlighted the need for clarity on ComSec testing requirements and the definition of ‘enterprise switches’ within the PPO framework. Several action items were identified, including seeking meetings with Ministers, DPIIT and JS MeitY to address pressing industry concerns. The next monthly meeting is scheduled for October 19th with a date adjustment pending to ensure member convenience.
