U.S. companies significantly contribute to the skill development of India. U.S. firms operating in India are involved in a variety of initiatives, including training and development programs, mentorship, and internships, all of which aim to enhance the skills of Indian employees. These programs prioritize imparting of global skills, in-demand technical skills, and cultural competency. Additionally, American companies make investments in educational institutions, vocational training centers, and partnerships between industry and academia, to cultivate a pool of talented individuals for the Indian workforce. These efforts improve the employability and competitiveness of Indian professionals in the global job market. Recognizing the need to align skills training programs with industry requirements, both the U.S. and India have expressed their commitment to fostering partnerships among educational institutions, industry stakeholders, and relevant government agencies. To this end, in 2023, the Ministry of Education, Government of India and the U.S. Department of State established the U.S.-India Working Group on Education and Skill Development. The Academic Industry Collaboration for Skilling Task Force aims to facilitate collaborative efforts to address skills gaps, enhance employability and promote entrepreneurship in both countries.
