AMCHAM’s Environment & Sustainability Committee held their second meeting on July 24^th virtually. Ms. Udaya Arun, Director, AMCHAM, welcomed participants, provided an overview of the committee since it was established in early 2024 and outlined the creation and scope of four working groups within the committee. Mr. Nilam Patel, Chairman – Environment & Sustainability Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director, S&P Global, provided an update on the sector and the role of U.S. industry. Ms. Mehar Ahluwalia, Director, AMCHAM reviewed summaries of the initial meetings of the working groups, sharing the committee’s short-term and long-term advocacy goals. Members suggested organizing goals by sector and identifying actionable issues to drive actions and initiate stakeholder consultations. A robust participation in the committee’s activities and initiatives was encouraged. The discussion touched upon the impact of the Union Budget 2024 on climate finance and its integration with the sector. Representatives from over 18 member companies participated.
