AMCHAM’s Climate Change and Net Zero Emissions Target Working Group, under the Environment and Sustainability Committee, convened its first meeting virtually on May 22nd, 2024. The meeting aimed to deliberate and identify key focus areas for collaboration. Ms. Mehar Ahluwalia, Director, AMCHAM provided a brief introduction to the subject. Wg Cdr Rajiv Anand, Senior Director, AMCHAM invited representatives from Carrier, IFF, Honeywell, Pyxera, Cargill, Rockwell, IBM, and S&P Global to discuss potential collaboration areas aligned with India’s ESG and net emissions targets. Members highlighted opportunities in HVAC, digital solutions for climate mitigation, upcoming net zero emissions targets, anticipated policy announcements regarding pollution, and the need for technical skilling of future talent by developing an engineering curriculum to prepare for industry 4.0. AMCHAM would circulate a copy of the Ministry of Education’s order regarding the new task force for engineering curriculum development to members.
