AMCHAM met with Ms. Sumita Dawra, Special Secretary, Logistics, Department for Promotion of Industry and Industrial Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India on August 2^nd in New Delhi. Mr. E. Srinivas, Joint Secretary, DPIIT and a team of experts from the logistics division joined the meeting. Discussion focused on identifying avenues for enhancing the U.S.-India partnership and highlighting challenges faced by U.S. industry. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM initiated the discussion and elaborated upon the major issues of concern to AMCHAM members, among others, impact on investments due to policies relating to land, timelines, documentation requirements, Make in India and last mile connectivity. Ms. Dawra invited members to consider increasing their manufacturing in India, highlighted the significance of Gati Shakti program and invited members to participate in the inter-ministerial meetings being organized by the logistics department for sharing industry concerns and new technologies that can be used at highways, ports and airports.
