A meeting of the AmCham Medical Devices Committee was organized in Gurgaon on 9th March, 2016. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Prabal Chakraborty, Chairman, AmCham Medical Devices Committee and Managing Director, Boston Scientific India. Other members who attended the meeting included Mr. Vibhav Garg, Boston Scientific, Mr. Rakesh Sharma, BD, Mr. Asok Kumar, JnJ, Ms. Sahjogita Kahthuria, CR Bard, Mr. Amit Raheja, JnJ, Dr. Praveen Kumar, India Medtronic, Mr. Vishnu Vyas, Edwards Life Sciences, Mr. Arif Fahim, St. Jude Medical, Ms. Pooja Gupta, Cook Medical and Mr. Mohd. Iqbal Butt, Dua Associates. The AmCham secretariat was represented by Mr. Gaurav Mendiratta.
The committee reviewed the work done and the progress made by the committee in the last year through a number of submissions to the government and also deliberated on the way forward for the committee in 2016-17. Some of the suggestions which came up during the deliberations included increasing interactions with U.S. Embassy officials, value addition by focusing on the states, training and awareness programs, and continued international outreach for regulatory issues in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
