AmCham, along with the European Business Group (EBG) was invited for a pre-budget discussion with the Chairman, CBDT, on 15th November 2016. From AmCham, the delegation was led by Mr. Amarjeet Singh, Chairman, AmCham’s Tax and Tariff Committee and Partner and Head of Tax – North India, KPMG, and was represented by Mr. Rohinton Sidhwa, Partner, International Taxation, Deloitte Haskins & Sells LLP, Mr. Amit Rana, Vice President – Taxes, GE Capital Services India, Mr. A.S. Narayan, Country Controller, Bechtel India, Mr. Rahul Goel, Manager, Tax and Regulatory Services, BSR & Co. LLP, and Ms. Madhvi Kataria, Deputy Executive Director, American Chamber of Commerce in India.
Mr. Amarjeet Singh made a presentation on direct taxes and included issues such as reduction in corporate tax, postponement of GAAR, and tax policies to ease doing business in India, APA’s and advance ruling.
From the Ministry of Finance, besides Mr. Sushil Chandra, Chairman, CBDT, the other officials included Mr. Rasmi Ranjan Das, Joint Secretary (TPL-I), CBDT, Mr. Rajesh Kumar Bhoot, Joint Secretary (TPL-II), CBDT, Mr. Pravin Rawal, Director (TPL-II), CBDT, Mr. Abhishek Gautam, Under Secretary (TPL-II), CBDT, Mr. Alok Shukla, Joint Secretary (TRU-I), CBEC, Mr. Amitabh Kumar, Joint Secretary (TRU-II), CBEC, Dr. Abhishek Gupta, Joint Secretary (TRU-II), CBEC.
A presentation on indirect taxes was made by a representative of BMR on behalf of the EBG.
