Agriculture & Food Processing Committee
Agriculture is a cornerstone of India’s economy, contributing nearly 18% to GDP and supporting the livelihoods of more than half the population. The food processing sector plays a critical role in connecting farmers to domestic and global markets through value addition, reduced post-harvest losses, and enhanced export competitiveness. With agricultural exports of approximately $52 billion and a food processing market exceeding $350 billion, the sector is central to food security, employment generation, and inclusive growth.
U.S. agriculture and food companies are long-standing strategic partners in India’s agri-food ecosystem. AMCHAM member companies bring advanced technologies, AgTech innovations, and global best practices across the value chain, including precision farming, digital platforms, and modern processing solutions. These contributions strengthen supply chains, improve productivity, and enhance farmer access to domestic and global markets.
The committee’s continued focus is on advancing policy advocacy, strengthening collaboration with global partners, and deepening commitment to technology-driven agricultural transformation. Technology, collaboration, and innovation are central to building a productive, transparent, and resilient agri-food ecosystem, supporting India’s journey toward food security, sustainability, and global leadership in food systems.
