On 6th February 2018, AMCHAM’s Western Region organized an informal chat with Consul General Edgard D. Kagan, U.S. Consulate General Mumbai. The morning began with Consul General Edgard D. Kagan being escorted on a special tour of the Abbott Healthcare office which was led by Mr. Bhasker Iyer, Vice President, EPD India, Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.
The tour was followed by an informal chat which provided an excellent opportunity to AMCHAM members to hear from the Consul General on key economic and strategic issues. The session commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Mahesh Krishnamurti, Chairman – Western Region, AMCHAM and Managing Director, RGP followed by welcome remarks by Mr. Bhasker Iyer. With U.S.-India ties witnessing a positive transformation in recent years, best exemplified with the global strategic partnership between the two countries, Consul General Edgard D. Kagan shared an overview of the U.S.-India economic and bilateral relationship. The interactive Q&A moderated by Ms. Kaku Nakhate, NEB Member, AMCHAM and President and Country Head (India), Bank of America, brought forth insightful views and questions on issues faced in the medical devices sector, transfer pricing, smart cities, ease of doing business etc.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Mr. Ron Reed, Vice Chairman – Western Region, AMCHAM and Managing Director – Petroleum & Chemicals, Jacobs Engineering India Pvt. Ltd. The event was kindly hosted by Abbott Healthcare Pvt. Ltd.
