EPR Labeling Deadline Extension Request

On March 20th, 2025, AMCHAM sent a representation to Mr. Ved Prakash Mishra, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, requesting an extension for EPR labeling compliance. The letter highlights challenges faced by U.S. companies regarding evolving Battery Waste Management Rules, which now require multiple location printing of EPR information and QR codes. AMCHAM emphasized implementation hurdles including production line changes, packaging redesigns, and coordination with global suppliers. The representation requests flexibility in printing EPR details, allowing companies to choose a single location option rather than multiple placements. Additionally, AMCHAM has sought an extension of the compliance deadline from March 31st, 2025 to March 31st, 2026, providing members adequate time to redesign packaging, modify production lines, and ensure uniform implementation across distribution networks.
