Interaction with Dr. Madhukar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Resident Commissioner, Government of Rajasthan – 7th July 2020

AMCHAM’s CSR Committee organized an exclusive interaction with Dr. Madhukar Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary and Principal Resident Commissioner, Government of Rajasthan, to capitalize on his CSR expertise on July 7th over Webex. The welcome and opening remarks were made by Mr. Harish Krishnan, Chairman – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Public Affairs & Strategic Engagements, Cisco India & SAARC. Ms. Kshitija Krishnaswamy, Co-Chairperson – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Managing Director – Corporate Citizenship, Accenture Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Ms. Sangita Ghalay, Co-Chairperson – CSR Committee, AMCHAM and Head – CSR, Honeywell India, made remarks. Dr. Madhukar Gupta, in his address, gave a brief overview of the history of development work in India. He talked about collaboration of resources —- financial, technical and human, nurturing and capacity building of CSR teams and designing CSR programs. Mr. Harish Krishnan moderated a Q&A with the audience which touched upon the topics of tech, start-ups, innovation, involvement of academic institutions in CSR and best practices for connecting with state and local governments.

 

Mr. Roshan Shankar, Advisor to the Health Minister, Delhi Government and Ms. Nidhi Srivastava, IAS, Deputy Commissioner cum District Magistrate, Central Delhi, highlighted some opportunities to partner with the Delhi Government which include: 1. Funding medical, clinical and public health projects with IIIT Delhi, 2. Helping District Magistrates set up COVID Care Centers or Health Centers to repurpose existing infrastructure into health facilities, 3. Set up centers with ICU beds (with ventilators) to help minimize deaths and maximize medical capacity to reduce deaths and 4. Fund projects with academics at IIIT Delhi, AIIMS and hospitals working with the government (computational biologists, clinical research, medical trials, community medicine) etc. For more details please reach out to:

HR Committee Meeting – 7th July 2020

On July 7th, the HR Committee organized the first meeting for the year 2020-2021 over a video call. Ms. Tanya Paul, Communication Director, AMCHAM and Ms. Komple Sharma, Manager, AMCHAM, welcomed the participants. Mr. Chaitanya N. Sreenivas, Chairman – HR Committee, AMCHAM and VP HR & HR Head India South Asia, IBM and Ms. Achal Khanna, Co-Chairperson – HR Committee, AMCHAM and CEO, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), apprised participants about the committee and its agenda for the year 2020-2021.

The committee finalized three topics to focus on – future of work, mental wellness and the labor code. It was also decided to make sub groups based on members’ preference and each sub group would drive its agenda and subsequently dovetail into the broader committee agenda. The meeting concluded with closing remarks from AMCHAM thanking members for their valuable inputs.

American Independence Day Celebration – 4th July 2020

AMCHAM India organized a virtual American Independence Day celebration on the 4th of July that brought together representatives of U.S. companies, Americans in India, the U.S. Mission and Government of India officials. Ms. Ranjana Khanna, Director General CEO, AMCHAM gave an encouraging welcome on the joyous occasion. She launched the American League — AMCHAM’s new exclusive segment for American citizens to network with leadership of U.S. companies in India. She acknowledged Mr. Sanjay Koul, Vice Chairman, AMCHAM, Ms. Kaku Nakhate, Vice Chairperson, AMCHAM, Mr. Atul Dhawan, Honorary Secretary & Treasurer, AMCHAM, Ms. Aileen Nandi, Hononary National Executive Board Member, AMCHAM and Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, U.S. Embassy and National Executive Board Members. Participants competed for prizes in a 4th of July trivia game. There was a cooking demonstration with Mr. Sandeep Pande, Executive Chef, JW Marriott New Delhi, which featured an Indian twist on some American favorites.

 

Ms. Ranjana Khanna moderated a panel discussion on 4th of July memories with Consul General Robert Burgess, U.S. Consulate General Chennai, Consul General Joel Reifman, U.S. Consulate General Hyderabad, Consul General Patti Hoffman, U.S. Consulate General Kolkata and Consul General David Ranz, U.S. Consulate General Mumbai. The Consuls General shared some memories of Independence Day abroad and favorite experiences in India. This was followed by stand-up comedy with Mr. Michael Harrington, Managing Director, Mintz Group and a live jazz guitar performance of Duke Ellington by Mr. Matt Ingeneri, U.S. Embassy. The U.S. National Anthem was performed by Ms. Grace Witham, U.S. Embassy followed by an address from U.S. Ambassador Kenneth I. Juster. The celebration culminated with a virtual fireworks display courtesy of BOTVFX. The Master of Ceremonies for the evening was Ms. Valerie Swope, Program Coordinator, AMCHAM. The event was attended by more than 150 people and only possible with the support from partners Bausch & Lomb, Boeing India, Pepsico India, Progress Rail and S&P Global along with gift sponsors Andaz Delhi, Conrad Bengaluru, Hyatt Regency, New Delhi, ITC Hotels – The Luxury Collection and Marriott International.

Interaction with Mr. Ajay Seth IAS, Managing Director, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) on Safe Travel and Innovation Post COVID-19 – 1st July 2020

AMCHAM’s Karnataka Chapter organized an interaction with Mr. Ajay Seth, Managing Director of Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) popularly known as Namma Metro. The interaction focussed on the various measures being taken by BMRCL to enable safe travel of employees by the Bengaluru metro when operations resume. In addition to safety measures, the conversation focussed on expansion of the metro rail network and how companies could look forward to being connected in the months to come.

Mr. Ravi Krishnan, Co-Chairman – Karnataka Chapter, AMCHAM and Chief Administrative Officer, Goldman Sachs India, made opening remarks and Mr. Sanjay Koul, Vice Chairman, AMCHAM, Chairman – Karnataka Chapter, AMCHAM and Managing Director, Timken India, gave the thank you address. The webinar was well attended by representatives from companies like First American, Accenture, Parexel, Timken, Texas Instruments, Mphasis, Saggezza, Ametek and others.
