In consultation with electronics manufacturing committee members, AMCHAM India made a submission on labour codes for the electronics manufacturing segment for the draft Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Rules 2022 for consideration by Mr. K. Jagathesan M.E., Director, Directorate of Industrial Safety and Health, Labour Welfare and Skill Development Department, Government of Tamil Nadu on July 14, 2022.

Requests for consideration on draft Development Enterprise and Services Hub (DESH) Bill to enhance functioning of the SEZ Legislation

AMCHAM India took forward the industry’s requests for consideration on the draft Development Enterprise and Services Hub (DESH) Bill to Mr. B.V.R. Subrahmanyam, Commerce Secretary, Dept. of Commerce Ministry of Commerce and Industry and Mr. Anurag Jain, Secretary, Dept. for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry to enhance the functioning and ease of doing business in SEZs legislation on July 9th 2022 and July 8th, 2022.

Recommendation for WTO Customs Duty Moratorium on Electronic Transmissions: Submission for Consideration

In consultation with the industry members, AMCHAM India submitted its recommendations on the WTO Customs Duty Moratorium on Electronics Transmission to Mr. Alkesh Kumar Sharma, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY), Govt. of India and Mr. Deepak Bagla, Managing Director and CEO, Invest India, Govt. of India on June 6th, 2022.

Industry Request on CERT-In Directions 2022

On May 13th, 2022, AMCHAM India shared preliminary concerns on behalf of industry members related to CERT-In Directions 2022, notified on April 28th, 2022 to Dr. Sanjay Bahl, Director General, Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Issues related to global server timing, NTP server connections, short incident reporting time periods, etc. were covered. AMCHAM requested industry/stakeholder consultation on the topic with the department.

Request for Exemption of Daily working hours under The West Bengal Shops and Establishments Act, 1963 (“Act”).

On May 13th, 2022, AMCHAM India communicated with Ms. Mamta Banerjee, Chief Minister, Govt. of West Bengal, and Mr. Rajeev Kumar, Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics Department, Govt. of West Bengal, with an industry request for an exemption of daily working hours under the West Bengal Shops and Establishments Act, 1963 (“Act”).
