Amcham Meets with IPR Think Tank February, 18 2015

After reviewing the draft National IPR Policy posted on the DIPP website, Amcham submitted feedback to the IPR Think Tank. On 18th February, 2015, Amcham met with the IPR Think Tank led by the Chairman of the IPR Committee, Mr. Balvinder Singh Kalsi, President – South Asia and ASEAN, E.I. Dupont.


Suggestions and observations proposed included:

  • • Request to make sector specific IP documents
    • Encourage the commercialization of IP
    • Streamline process for PPV and biodiversity authorities
    • Request to do away with section 8 requirements under the Patents Act
    • Under section 146 form 27, request to abolish annual “working statements” requirements that could invoke the compulsory   licensing provisions for not working
